Toastmasters District 82, Division I Launches the Year with Club Officer Training Programme

Toastmasters District 82, Division I commenced its programme calendar for the year with the Club Officer Training Programme (COTP) and COOL. (Club Officer Outbound Learning), held on 18 July 2026 at MAS Athena, Thulhiriya

Designed to equip club officers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to lead effectively, the programme brought together Toastmasters from across Division I for a full day of learning, collaboration, and leadership development.

The event was graced by District 82 leaders, including Club Growth Director – DTM Hingston Lovell, Past District Director DTM Noorul Munawwara and Past Division Director Terril Ragel, along with other District Leaders and senior Toastmasters from the fraternity.

The event also marked the formal installation of the Area Directors and the introduction of the Division I Team, setting the foundation for the Division’s leadership for the year 2026/2027.

Throughout the day, participants engaged in general and breakout sessions covering key aspects of club leadership, communication, officer responsibilities, and member engagement. The programme featured special activities, recognition of trainers and invitees, COTP awards, and opportunities for members to exchange ideas and strengthen connections across the Division.

The formal training sessions were followed by COOL, an outbound learning experience designed to encourage teamwork, practical leadership, and stronger collaboration among club officers. The combination of structured learning and experiential activities provided participants with a well-rounded platform to prepare for the year ahead.

Commenting on the programme, Gayan Lakmal Alwis, Division I Director, said:

“COTP and COOL are the first of many events planned for the year, in line with our vision to imagine, inspire, ignite, and illuminate every member of Division I. Through these initiatives, we aim to help our members grow into stronger leaders and more confident communicators, while building a more connected and empowered Division.”

The event marked the beginning of Division I’s leadership and development initiatives for the year, reinforcing its commitment to supporting clubs, strengthening officer capabilities, and creating meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth.
