Sri Lanka records 113,000 tourist arrivals in August

Sri Lanka has recorded a number of 113,307 tourist arrivals during the first 16 days of August, bringing the country’s total tourist arrivals to 1,456,725, between 1 January to 16 August 2026, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

India topped as the leading source of tourists during the period, with 25,355 nationals, accounting for around 22% of total arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom (UK), with 12,738 tourists and France, with 8,106 tourist arrivals in the country, according to SLTDA.

India continues to lead the overall arrivals for the year, contributing 363,585 tourists, while the United Kingdom accounted for 143,139 arrivals.
