Today (20), the Colombo Magistrate’s Court was informed by the Criminal probe Department (CID) that it has opened a probe into an alleged large-scale scam using “e-Tickets” offered for up-country trains, particularly those to Ella.
It is said that the Department of Railways made a complaint in this regard, which prompted the start of this investigation.
As a result, the Criminal Investigation Department’s Computer Crime Investigation Unit has told the court that certain organizations are buying all of the tickets accessible online using questionable methods and then reselling them to visitors close to train stations for outrageous prices.
According to the CID’s report to the court, an investigation into this occurrence will be carried out, and the court will be informed of the findings as soon as possible.
